Teaching Philosophy:
- To believe in others, especially when they don’t believe in themselves.
Objective:
- Pre-Algebra gives students a strong foundation in basic mathematics to Algebra through comprehensive real-world problem solving, activities, and technology. Gaining a deeper understanding in mathematics helps us to better understand the world around us and how things relate to one another.
Materials:
- Glencoe Math Course 3 Consumable Textbooks
- 3 Subject Spiral Notebook
- Calculator TI-30 XIIS
Grading:
- 25% HW/Daily Work
- 25% Quizzes
- 50% Tests
- Homework and Daily Work Assignments will be pulled at random. All assignments should be completed in full to ensure maximum points possible.
- Quizzes will be given at the end of each week on lessons taught throughout that week.
- Tests will be given at the end of each unit.
- A semester exam will be given at the end of each semester.
Absences:
- Students are responsible for making up the work that they miss due to absence. This includes the notes that were missed. I list the title of the notes on their back bulletin board. It is the student’s responsibility to copy the notes from another student.
Discipline:
- Middle school students are expected to know proper classroom behavior. I reward good behavior with tickets which can be used to redeem rewards at the end of each week.
Discipline Infractions:
- The class has a red, yellow, and green chart on the board. Green means they are free to talk quietly while working, yellow means that they are getting to loud and need to watch their noise level, and red means that they must refrain from talking. If a particular student is consistently having trouble, they will get their own miniature red, yellow, and green card. They will start on green with a verbal warning when it’s handed to them. If they leave on yellow, they will receive a lunch detention. If they leave on red, they will receive an after school detention.
